Connecting Education to Outcomes

The Continuing Education (CE) Team at Hartford HealthCare provides educational activities and programs that are aligned with our mission statement. We work to deliver meaningful education by leveraging a variety of formats, modalities and technologies to support the ever-changing and dynamic healthcare environment.

Within the Hartford HealthCare system the Team strives to improve care by collaborating with our quality management teams and clinical councils to optimize our educational activities and close gaps in care.

CE supports the professional development and lifelong learning of our medical, nursing and pharmacy staff by providing evidence-based educational activities that advance medical knowledge, improve practice performance, and enhance patient quality and care outcomes.

Lectures and Training

The Hospital of Central Connecticut regularly holds Grand Rounds for physicians, medical students and other staff members.

For Grand Rounds, The Hospital of Central Connecticut is accredited by the Connecticut State Medical Society to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. The Hospital of Central Connecticut designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.

Health Sciences Library

The hospital also has an extensive Health Sciences Library for physicians, residents and other staff members that includes E-journals, E-textbooks, a number of medical databases, medical image libraries and numerous other resources.

Nursing Education

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is committed to the continued quality of nursing practice and education. We actively support our nurses' efforts to expand their knowledge, improve their skills, and enhance their professional development. Our Education and Development staff members, most of whom are master's prepared nurse educators, provide clinical education and support on all three shifts.
