EMS Education

The Department of EMS Education provides educational programs for all members of the healthcare team, from bystanders and first responders at the scene of the accident to doctors and nurses at the hospital.

EMS Training

The Department of EMS Education is one of the largest American Heart Association Community Training Centers in Connecticut. Course offerings include first aid and CPR for children, basic life support for healthcare providers, advanced cardiac life support, and pediatric advanced life support.

EMS stands for “Emergency Medical Services,” and refers to all the personnel and equipment that care for a patient before their arrival at the hospital. EMRs, EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics are all key components of the EMS system. In cooperation with the Emergency Department, EMS Education also provides medical control for area pre-hospital providers.
