Crib Safety

The crib is the one place where babies and young children are regularly left unsupervised. To help keep your child safe, use recommended equipment properly and update features of the crib as your child grows.

The “Baby Blues” and Post-Partum Depression

The “baby blues” can happen in the days right after childbirth and normally go away in a few days to a week. A new mother can have sudden mood swings, sadness, crying spells, loss of appetite and sleeping problems. She may also feel irritable, restless, anxious and lonely. Symptoms generally are not severe and treatment usually is not needed.

Safe Sleep

What you can do to help your baby sleep safely and to reduce your baby's risk of SIDS.

Baby-Friendly Designation

We’ve always been baby-friendly. Now it’s official. Research shows that breastfeeding is best for most babies. That’s why The Hospital of Central Connecticut has implemented the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative, a global effort to encourage breastfeeding. We follow the 10 Steps To Successful Breastfeeding for Hospitals, as outlined by the World Health Organization and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and became a designated Baby Friendly Hospital in 2014.
