Ultrasound Guided Trigger Release FingerTrigger finger is a common hand condition that affects approximately 9 million Americans. Trigger finger happens when the tendon in the affected finger becomes swollen, causing that finger to bend with difficulty or get stuck in a bent position. This can cause stiffness or discomfort and prevent someone from doing normal, routine activities.

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is the first in the state to use a device that helps alleviate symptoms of trigger finger for patients. Sonex Health’s UltraGuideTFR™ is used in conjunction with real-time ultrasound guidance to perform trigger finger release (TFR) procedures. Doctors perform the procedure under local anesthesia through a small hand incision, which may be closed without sutures. This allows a faster recovery for patients – allowing them to return to work and other activities in a matter of days, versus weeks with traditional trigger finger surgery.
